How to vote on 17 August
Everything you need in one place - the hours, what to bring, how the two ballots work, and where you can vote.
Can I vote?
You can vote in the Likud primaries on 17 August if both of these are true:
- You registered as a Likud member on or before 17 April 2025 - that is the 16-month seniority requirement.
- Your membership dues are paid and your membership is in good standing.
Joining now will not make you eligible for this vote. The seniority cut-off passed in April 2025. If you join today you will be eligible for future internal Likud votes, but not for the 17 August primary.
Where do I vote?
At any polling station in the country. This is the part most people get wrong. Unlike a general election, you are not tied to a station in your own area - around eighty stations are open today, in the big cities and in the periphery, and you may walk into any of them. If it is easier to vote near your office than near your home, do that.
This is not our reading of the rules - it is printed at the top of the Likud election committee's own list of polling sites: בעל/ת זכות הצבעה רשאי/ת להצביע בכל אחד מאתרי ההצבעה - "a person entitled to vote may vote at any one of the voting sites." The full list, by locality with addresses, is at likud.org.il.
The committee runs an enquiries line on election day only: 03-6523551. If you are unsure where to go or whether your membership is in order, that is the number.
One limit worth knowing. You can vote anywhere, but the district half of your ballot is still your own district - a Tel Aviv member cannot vote for a Negev district candidate. Your district follows the branch you are registered with at the Likud, which is usually the city you lived in when you first joined, not necessarily where you live now.
What to bring
Bring your teudat zehut (Israeli ID card). It is required - you will be asked for it at the door. Voting is in person only; there is no postal or online voting in the Likud primaries.
What happens at the polling station
You show your ID and receive two separate forms. It is worth knowing what they are before you are standing at the table with a pen.
- The national form - the national candidate list, including the sector slots (young people, olim, the non-Jewish sector, a person with a disability, a new woman). Mark exactly 12 names. Not eleven, not thirteen.
- The district form - mark exactly one name, in your own district only.
"Exactly" cuts both ways - count them before you seal the envelope. The ballot says so itself: הצבעה בעד יותר או פחות מ-12 מועמדים תיפסל - voting for more or fewer than 12 candidates is disqualified. A form with eleven marks is thrown out just as one with thirteen is.
Brian is 321 - on the district form
This is the part to get right, because it is easy to look in the wrong place. Brian is not on the national list. He is number 321 on the district form, under Jerusalem, Yesha and the Shephelah (ירושלים, יש"ע ושפלה). If that is the district you are registered in, 321 is your one district mark.
Your twelve national marks are a separate form and are not touched by it. Voting for Brian costs you nothing there.

And on the national form
Those twelve national marks are yours to spend, and none of them compete with 321. If you are looking for suggestions, Brian would ask you to remember three:
- 101 - Amir Ohana
- 175 - Ayub Kara (non-Jewish sector slot)
- 184 - Laurent Shlomo Parienti (olim slot)
All three sit on the national form, so marking them takes nothing away from Brian on the district form - and you still need nine more names to reach twelve.
